Look Mom! I’m Famous!

I got my picture in the paper!

At the World Hoop Day event (see earlier post) there were a bunch of photographers and journalists there to cover the event.  And at one point one ofthem seemed to take quite a liking to me.  Or at least decided to stand right next to me and take like a BILLION photos.  Eventually, He stopped and explained he worked at The Columbia Tribune, and that he wanted to do a column about WHD, and that’s why he was taking so many pictures.  I don’t particularly mind having my picture taken, and he even took the time to ask a few questions about hooping- so I thought that was pretty cool.  I’d all but forgotten about it until this afternoon when one of my professors called me ‘Ms. Hula hoop girl’ and mentioned she’d seen my picture in the paper.  and sure enough there it is!

I’m Famous!

Ok so, maybe my professer is like the last person who still reads actual newspapers, but I still think it’s pretty cool.

Happy Hooping,

World Hoop Day 2011

Yesterday was 11/11/11.  (crazy right? I’m sure you had no idea..)  and heres a little known fact, 11 is my favorite number!  do most people have a favorite number?  Its great! 11 is the lowest number that while being odd is visual balanced- I’ve thought this through the way people think about their favorite movies, and favorite books (Zombieland, and the Perks of Being a Wallflower).

Back to the point.  I was really excited about 11/11/11!  on top of the gratuitous use of my favorite number, and Veterans day, it was WORLD HOOP DAY!!   now if you don’t know much about World Hoop Day you can check out this place.  Its a really great organization that takes one day a year to celebrate peace and generosity- by giving hula hoops to children in need.  How cool is that?

This year we we’re really lucky to have a beautiful sun-shining day after a week of especially cold and grey weather, apparently somebody knew hooping is better in the sun. and all that positive thinking paid off.

I celebrated my hoop day at the local World Hoop Day fest, special thanks to the Hulagans and Burn Circus.  The celebration included performances by local artists, lots of good vibes and donating 200+ hoops to local children! Awesome!!  So here’s a little video of the celebration, hope you like it 🙂

Thanks to everyone how helped celebrate, and thanks to the World Hoop Day Organization for giving us a great excuse to spend an afternoon hooping in the sun.

Keep Spinning,
